Got to love crafts!

My sister Jenny has been wanting to decorate my niece Abigail's room since she was born and just didn't know where to start. The walls are painted a lilac purple. I had been wanting to do this project with Jenny for a while now and since I now have time on my side, I figured why not. Its really easy and I actually got the idea from my good friend Amy!

Go to your local craft store and pick out wooden letters that spell out what you want to say. We chose Abigail. Pick up some modge podge and decorative paper in patterns you like or that match.

The first step and a VERY important one...Trace the letters on the back side of the paper you are going to use so when you flip it over the patterned side is reflective of the letter.

Once you trace and cut out all your letters you are ready to apply the modge podge. With a sponge brush or small paint brush apply a thin layer of modge podge to the wood letter and apply paper to the wooden letters making sure they are aligned correctly. Repeat until all letters are adhered. Let dry for 15 minutes or longer.

Once letters are dry apply another layer of modge podge to the top of the letters to give them a sheen. let dry another 15 minutes or longer and there you have it! Add a ribbon or angle on a shelf and you have an inexpensive, fun way to decorate any room!

Finally! After 7 fabulous years

This Bed and Breakfast was the first one we had ever visited a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with it. The decor, solitude, and atmosphere are intoxicating. The minute you walk through the door you feel like you are at a North Shore getaway located in the St. Croix River Valley outside of Hinkley bordering Wisconsin. I always pictured B&B's having a foul smell  and flowered wall paper on the walls. This place was the complete opposite.

Woodland Trails Bed and Breakfast

Just from the outside you can tell it is well taken care of which is a huge understatement. The minute you walk thru the door you are greeted by the innkeeper or the owners who treat each guest like family. In the spring and summer their is fishing in the pond, geocaching in the woods for treasure, hiking, or simply relaxing with a book in the great room. During the winter you can snowshoe, curl up with a book in front of the fireplace, play english billards in the basement, or curl up for a movie on the big screen.

The breakfast that is served daily is fit for a king! Simply amazing, but you will need a nap afterwards! Our second visit was my birthday present from Matt. We made our second trip the weekend of Febuary 25th, 2011. We were going to stay in the St. Croix Room which is located on the lower level of the home and is the largest of all the rooms.

I had some suspicion that this might in fact just be the weekend that Matt proposes to me. We got to the Bed and Breakfast Friday evening, checked in and went to grab a bite to eat and came back to watch hockey of course. On Saturday morning during breakfast a couple we had just met was asking us why we were not engaged yet and we both told them that we wanted the time to be right. Well little did I know the "time" was that weekend.

On Saturday, we went geocatching with snowshoes in the woods. Matt gave me the GPS to lead us to the treasure. Once we found it, I got all excited thinking this was it, he was going to propose...nope I was wrong. Later that afternoon another couple arrived for the evening and met us in the great room for wine and cheese during "Happy Hour" accompanied by a sleigh ride around the property. During the sleigh ride it crossed my mind again...maybe this is it? Nope.

We hit it off with Heidi and Brian, the other couple staying at the B&B that night, immediately and hung out with them the rest of the evening. We went to dinner together, learned how to play English Billiards together and drank wine. About 11:30 that evening we were all getting tired so we parted ways for the evening. As I went back to our room I heard my phone beep. It was text from Matt saying "Come here please" I went upstairs into the great room where he was sitting on the couch. As I sat down I noticed a ring box on the ottoman. My heart started beating fast and I couldn't believe the time had come! Matt opened the box and didn't say anything... I said "yeah" he replied "Will you merry me?" I said " Yes, of course!" I was grinning from ear to ear! It was such an intimate moment and I knew Matt would propose on his own terms and he did just that.

Our new friends Brian and Heidi who recently got married!

The next morning we shared the news with the innkeeper and our new friends Heidi and Brian who couldn't believe their eyes but were so excited for us! We hope to be able to celebrate out anniversary at Woodland Trails as it is truely an amzing place to relax, unwind, and forget about all the have to do's. You are able to truely slow down and enjoy life.

Soon to be Mrs. Wodziak!
